October is an important "community" month for SCS. Two of our largest, school-wide events occur on consecutive weekends duirng October. Spirit Weekend takes place on Friday, October 12, and our Partners in Purusit Banquet is on Friday, October 19. Both of these events are great opportunities for elementary families to see the long term value and impact of a Christian education and environment on this generation's youth.
The first school-wide event, Spirit Week, begins on Wednesday, October 10th in the elementary school as we begin a recycle-can drive competition between the different grades and students earn spirit points by dressing up in the day's themed dress. Friday afternoon culminates Spirit Week with an elementary Mini-festival after school from 3-5 p.m. After the Mini-festival is a free tailgate at Groves High School followed by the SCS Eagle's varsity football team competing against Old Redford High School.
The following weekend on October 19, all SCS families, alumni, and others connected with SCS are invited to attend the Partners in Pursuit Banquet. Pastor Harvey Carey, a passionate and engaging speaker, will be the keynote speaker. In addition to Pastor Carey, there will be various student performances.
I hope everyone can make it out to one or both of these events and share in the community spirit that comes with being a part of SCS. God bless!
