Slavin Scholarship Fund

Dr. George Slavin was called to pastor Highland Park Baptist Church in 1971 and served until his death in March of 1979. In addition to his pastoring responsibilities, he had a special interest in Christian education and was a great supporter of Southfield Christian School.

During the 1978/1979 school year, the Slavin Scholarship Fund was established at SCS to honor Dr. Slavin. The purpose of the fund, then and now, is to provide financial assistance to families who desire a Christian education for their children who might not otherwise be able to afford it. In May 1979, the fund reached its initial goal of $20,000. Since then, and through the many generous gifts of families, friends, and other supporters of SCS, over 150 families have received assistance from this fund.
