Episode 31 - Reference Raps (February 2009)

The fourth graders recently studied 5 different types of reading reference sources. To help the students remember them, their teacher wrote a rap which the students practiced and performed in groups. This podcast presents examples of the creative performances of 5 of the groups.

Episode 29 - The Life of Isaac Reader's Theater (April 2008)
Fifth grader Meghan wrote this play about Isaac. A group of fifth graders recorded the play and our podcasting team edited the sound and added sound effects.

Episode 28 - Psalm 139 (February 2008)
Mrs. Veldman's second grade class wrote about how God made them special, based on Psalm 139. In this podcast some of the students share their paragraphs.

The first graders have been learning about the Psalms. They have written some of their own Psalms based on what they have been learning. This podcast reflects their thanksgiving to God.

The third graders researched people and places in Michigan, and presented a wax museum for the school. This podcast features some of the speeches from this event.

Episode 19 - The Underground Railroad (May 2007)
The fourth graders created songs, poems, and raps to go along with their study of the Underground Railroad. This podcast features some of their inspiring creations.

Episode 18 - Everybody Read! (April 2007)
Where are all the sixth graders? They're all reading books! In this episode Drew and Lauren find out what books have captured their attention.

Episode 17 - If I Had a Hundred Dollars (March 2007)
For "Hundred Day" Mrs. Van Horn read a book and then asked her students what they would do if they had a hundred dollars. So, as our podcasters Ray and Garrett would say, "Show me the money, Kindergartners!"

Episode 16 - Report from MACUL (March 2007)
On March 15, four of our podcasters joined Miss Bosch at the MACUL conference at Cobo Hall. They shared our podcast with other educators and demonstrated the equipment they use to create our podcast. While at the conference, they interviewed some teachers and recorded their personal impressions.

Episode 12 - The Valentine Episode (February 2007)
This episode is about "love." The sixth graders share some things which they wrote in class about what love is. You'll enjoy their "heart-warming" definitions.

Episode 11 - The Christmas Story (February 2007)
The second graders memorized the Christmas Story from Luke 2. Listen to this podcast to hear them recite this passage and talk about what it means.

Episode 10 - The Super Science Tour (January 2007)
Our science train stops at the 3rd, 4th, 5th, and 6th grade classrooms to find out about some of the science experiments that they have been doing. You won't want to miss hearing about owl pellets, making telescopes, water filtering, and electricity games!

Episode 9 - The Sixth Grade Poetry Block (January 2007)
The sixth graders have been writing lots of poems in Writer's Workshop this year. This podcast features some of their best poetry.

Episode 8 - First Grade Thanksgiving Poems (January 2007)
We stopped by the first grade to learn a little about what they have been writing, and we listened to the Thanksgiving poems that they wrote based on the Psalms.

Episode 7 - Spirit Week (January 2007)
Our school celebrated Spirit Week during the week of October 16. Our podcasters talked to students in the elementary school about Crazy Hat Day and about the pop can recycling competition. They also have interviews about our school's first ever football team and the Homecoming game.

Episode 6 - The Sixth Grade Ropes Course (November 2006)
On September 29, 2006, our sixth graders took a field trip to a Ropes Course. This episode tells about the highlights of that trip, the lessons that were learned, and the spiritual wrap up given by Pastor Slater.

Episode 5 - What's New at SCS! (October 2006)

There are a lot of new things happening in the fall of 2006 here at Southfield Christian School. Our podcasters interviewed people around the school about our new podcasting class, uniforms, the construction in the gym, chapel, and girls' basketball. This episode features our podcasting team of Leanne, Michelle, Drew, Lauren, Garrett, Raymond, Gar, John, Ezra, and Cal.

Episode 4 - Sixth Grade Teachers' Farewell (May 2006)
The sixth grade teachers bid farewell to their students using "candy bar language." If you are curious as to what candy bar language is, click to listen!

Episode 3 - Michigan Moments Wax Museum (May 2006)
The third grade presented a "wax museum" during Fine Arts Night in May which featured famous people and places of Michigan. This episode has highlights of some of the excellent presentations done by students Kallen, Jon, Haley, Faith, Sydney, Langston, Annalise, and Meghan.

Episode 2 - GarageBand Jam Session (May 2006)
DJs Ade, Lance, and Jacob host this show where they play some the top ten GarageBand musical creations by the students at Southfield Christian Elementary School. The songs were made by 6th graders Ade, Lance, and Jacob, 3rd graders Kevin, Ben, Mike, Peter, and Johnny, and 5th graders Eric, Chandler, and Cal.

Episode 1 - The Poetry Cafe (March 2006)
In our Poetry Cafe, some of the sixth graders will be reading poems and stories which they have created in their Writer's Workshop this year. Also, some of their GarageBand music compositions have been used to enhance their readings. This Poetry Cafe features the work of Ade, Rebecca, Jeremy, Sydney, Alex, Ariel, and Corinne.
