“Technology Explorers”

This fall Miss Bosch is offering a series of after school technology classes in the elem. Computer lab. Each class will allow a small group of students to learn a specific skill in a small group setting. The cost for each 3 week class is $40.00 (the cost includes the purchase of special materials for students and equipment for the class.) The fee for each class will be added to your tuition bill. The class will run from 3:00 - 4:30 p.m.

Because of the nature of these classes, class size will be limited to 12 students. Students will be limited to signing up for on class this semester. If interest is high, Miss Bosch hopes to repeat classes again second semester. Older students may indicate a second coice, if your first choice is not available.

4th/5th Digital Photography (3 weeks)
Wednesdays - 9/19, 9/26, 10/3
Students will learn to take pictures using a digital camera. Students my use their own digital camera, or if you do not have your own digital camera, Miss Bosch will supply cameras that students can share. We will learn to download pictures into iPhote, how to edit and crop pictures, and will print off copies of the best shots.

2nd/3rd Digital Books (3 weeks)
Tuesdays - 10/9, 10/16, 10/23
Students will use KidPix to create and print a copy of their own book. Student will need to create a story with their parents prior to the class which will be sued for this class. (Information on what is neede for this story will be sent home prior to the class.) Books will be bound in a hard cover for student to take home.

3rd/4th/5th Digital Scrapbooking (3 weeks)
Wednesdays - 10/31, 11/7, 11/14
Do you have family digital pictures from a trip, a holiday, special occasion, or just for fun? In this class students will learn how to use Print Shop to create decorated scrapbook pages featuring your digital pictures. Finished pages will be bound into a hard cover book. Information will be sent home with students prior to class about how to get the digital pictures to Miss Bosch to prepare in advance for the class.

4th/5th Garage Band (3 weeks)
Tuesdays - 11/28, 12/5, 12/12
Students will use GarageBand to create their own music. They will learn some new Garage Band tricks, and will have a chance to try using a Midi Keyboard to make music. They will also learn how to burn the songs into a CD in iTunes to take home.

Destination Imagination - 5th Grade only (Wednesdays)
DI Exploration:
Students who desire to learn more about DI problem solving competition must attend these sessions. During the last session, students will have the opportunity to try out for the permanent teams. Students cannot be on a team without attending these Exploration sessions, whether they have been on a previous team or not. Teams are limited to seven students. You may not be involved in sports to do DI. (the schedules conflict too often.)

Students will perform their play the last date of each month at 4:00 p.m. in the art room or chapel. Some may be performed during the school day for particular grades. The plays coordinate with curriculum and are similar to last year’s – “Rumpus in the Rainforest.”

Join us for an American Girl Book Club. We will discuss “Meet Josefina” and learn what it was like to grow up on a rancho near Santa Fe, New Mexico, in 1824. Your registration fee will cover a book, crafts and snack time. Crafts and snacks will be inspired by the story each week.

Class is for non jumpers and those who want to enhance their skills in jump rope.

Competition Jump Rope Team
This team is for students who have developed skills in jump rope and want to improve their skills through competition and performances.
Days: Tuesday & Friday mornings
Time: 7:00 – 8:00 a.m
Location: Elem. Gym
Starts: 10/2 and continues through March & possibly April.
Cost: $50.00 per jumper (includes uniform) there are other cost with this team. Each time we compete, each jumper must pay a fee for each competition. Each is about $25.00. Jumpers must also join USA jump rope organization.
Schedule: to be sent home in November

Unicycle Team
This team is for any student who can ride a unicycle.
Forms will be sent home on October 29th.
Day: Mondays
Time: 3:00 – 4:30 p.m.

Cost: $50.00 per student (includes team t-shirt)
Performance schedule for basketball games will be sent home on 1st practice day. Having your own helmet is helpful, but not mandatory.
SCS provides the unicycles.

5th Grade Boys Basketball
Practice will begin in december.
Schedule to be determined by the end of Nov.
Games and season will be January and February.

Circle Knitting class – 3rd – 5th grades
This class is for those students who would like to learn to circle knit. Students will make a winter hat or scarf.

Cost: $40.00 (includes the loom, yarn, needles, snack, etc.)

Cheerleading Class – 1st – 5th grade
This class is for those students who love to cheer. Instruction will be given in chants, cheers, stunts, etc. Students will cheer at a high school basketball game.

Volleyball Team – 4th & 5th grade
This team is for those who want to develop their skills in the game of volleyball. At this time, games will be intramural style.

Beginning Gymnastics Class – Kindergarten – 2nd grade
This will be a class in the basics of gymnastics – tumbling, balance beam, vaulting, rope climbing, stilt walking, etc.

Jr. Eagles Basketball – 1st – 4th
This program is for those student who want to develop their skills in the basics of basketball. Games will be played, and teams will play 3 on 3 type game.

Soccer – Kindergarten – 5th grade
This program is for those student who want to develop their skills in the basics of soccer. Games will be played with other schools, and we will have an in house round robin play.

Dates: starts the last week of April and ends May 22

Speed Cup Stacking Team
This group will be developed if there is a big enough interest from students. Students will learn the basic patterns for stacking in physical education class. If we have enough students who would like to compete, we will develop a team.
