IN THE KNOW ABOUT MRS. DANIELS' 5TH GRADE
 
 
 
Welcome to a year filled with new adventures such as band, basketball, volleyball, Destination Imagination, and more.   We also are learning about making right choices with God's help—certainly a challenge regardless of our age.
Our studies in Bible will concentrate on a survey of the Old Testament.   We have three major Bible passages that we will be memorizing this year.   Every Tuesday students take a verse test.   This is a fill-in-the-blank test.   Each week students are tested on the new verses plus the previous verses from the Bible passage.  
Math studies this year will include:
•  Place value of whole and decimal numbers
•  Adding and subtracting decimals and whole numbers
•  Multiplication and division of whole and decimal numbers
•  Adding and subtracting fractions
Science areas of study will include:
•  Cells and Body Systems
•  Ecosystems
•  Earth Science
•  Matter
In Social Studies this year, some of the areas of American history we will cover are:
•  Exploration and Explorers
•  Revolutionary War
•  Declaration of Independence
•  Constitution of the United States
•  Civil War
In order to aid students in organization, all assignments are recorded daily in their Assignment Book.   Time is given in class for students to copy the assignments from the chalkboard into their Assignment Book.   Parents should check their child's Assignment Book nightly to make sure assignments are completed and placed in their homework folder.
