While you might still learn the great skill of carving marble from a wizened, gray-haired artisan, if you want to learn something about the computer you might very well be asking questions of some one half your age. In bringing Computer Art to our Middle School we are introducing a toolset to a population that has been training in technology since birth. The youth of today are adapted to life with technology, and the possibility of creating art on the computer is for some a much smaller leap than drawing with a pencil. In our class we explore some of the classic themes of computer art such as 3D modeling and scene creation and photographic manipulation. The skills learned in this class may prove to be useful in ways far beyond concern for a grade.
