Cairo Signs with Central Michigan University

Congratulations to Senior Rachel Cairo who signed to continue her softball career at Central Michigan University.  She is a three-sport athlete for the Eagles who has earned all-conference honors in volleyball, basketball, and softball.  Last season in softball Rachel earned 1st Team All-State honors, MIAC Conference MVP honors, and led her team to a MIAC Conference title.  Cairo not only etched her name in the Southfield Christian record book but she found herself leaving her mark on the MHSAA record book. In 23 games last season, Cairo made 92 plate appearances where she collected 56 hits in 76 at-bats, scoring 55 runs while hitting 23 doubles, and 10 home runs, with 49 RBIs. Altogether she batted .737 on the season which placed her 3rd all-time in MHSAA history. Her 23 doubles are a school record while her hits, homers, RBIs, and runs all rank in the top 6 all-time in school history.
