Spiritual Life

Southfield Christian School seeks to create an environment where students are challenged and equipped to experience the joy of serving the risen Savior, discovering His purpose for their lives, and living lives that glorify Him.
While today's culture seeks to portray truth as relative and continuously changing, spiritual life at Southfield Christian challenges students to unapologetically serve a Savior who is truth and a God who is unchanging. The Bible curriculum, prepares students to know, defend, and live out their faith, while weekly chapels afford students the opportunity to worship Christ as a unified body of believers. At Southfield Christian School, we believe that rigorous academics and a vibrant spiritual life should not be an either/or proposition. Therefore, we seek to prepare our students to glorify God with their minds, talents, and lives.

Elementary Chapel

Elementary chapels are filled with interactive skits, worship songs, engaging multimedia and, most importantly, stories from the Word of God. Each month our chapels focus on a single theme, which allows us to reinforce Biblical truths week after week and demonstrate those truths in a variety of ways that are applicable to an elementary student’s life. By the end of 5th grade, we want our students to grasp three basic truths that mirror Jesus’ developmental years, as seen in Luke 2:52:
  1. I need to make the wise choice.
  2. I can trust God no matter what.
  3. I should treat others the way I want to be treated. © Orange 2013
At SCS, we know that families play a vital role in our students’ spiritual development. A website devoted to elementary chapels keeps our parents connected with what their children learn in chapel every Friday. It offers resources like weekly devotionals, bedtime stories, and podcasts that correlate with the monthly theme. As we partner with our parent community, we are blessed to see our students enter into and deepen a personal relationship with Christ.

Middle and High School Chapel

Middle and high school chapel is held weekly and led in partnership by Highland Park Baptist Church and Southfield Christian School pastors and teachers.  Spiritual Life Week is held twice a year where students attend chapel every day of the week to hear from special guest speakers.  In addition to chapel services, the staff supports the spiritual growth of students through small group leadership, counseling, retreats, and mission trips.

Prayer Community

Parents and community members meet daily from 8:00 until 9:00 a.m. in the North Atrium to pray.  All are welcome to come and go as needed.  Please submit prayer requests to ssharp@southfieldchristian.org.
