My role models are what makes up Black History
We’re extraordinary, I’m told
But anyone can see Because of Mae Jemison, I see myself in space
Because of Rosa Parks, I take a stand in what I believe in
Because of Kamala Harris, I’m assured I can do anything I set my mind to do
Can’t you see we’re extraordinary?

My past overflows to my future
The pain and joy I see through Black History
I grasp on to every fight and triumph
I hold it tight running like Jesse Owens
Through the storms ahead Knowledge of my past guides me                                                                                 -
