Southfield Christian Athletics is proud to announce the latest inductees into the Southfield Christian Athletics Hall of Honor. This year’s class features three Eagles who helped define what it means to be a student-athlete: a multi-sport pioneer from the 80s, a record-breaking soccer and baseball player, and a decorated collegiate athlete who went on to the Olympics.
Shawn (Shellnut) Spry, Class of 1988 Shawn remains one of the most versatile athletes in SCS history. A dominant force in basketball, volleyball, and softball, Shawn’s name is still found throughout the record books decades later. • Basketball: A scoring and rebounding machine, Shawn ranks 2nd all-time in career rebounds and 5th in career points. She was a key member of the undefeated 1987 MIAC Championship team. • Volleyball: A two-time MVP and team captain, she led the Eagles to three consecutive undefeated MIAC titles, boasting a staggering 91-13 career record. • Softball: A 3-time MIAC Champion, she still holds the school record for most triples in a single season. Today, Shawn is an author and community servant, celebrating 35 years of marriage to her husband, Scott, with whom she has raised four children to the glory of God.
Michael Solt, Class of 2005 Michael was a three-sport athlete who had great individual and team success, particularly on the soccer pitch and the baseball diamond. • Soccer: A First-Team All-State selection, Michael is the all-time leader in career goals (54) and career points (128). He led the program to three MIAC titles and both District and Regional Championships. • Baseball: A base-running threat who ranks 5th in career stolen bases, Michael helped lead the Eagles to a 2005 MHSAA State Runner-up finish. • Professional Success: After studying Engineering and Law, Michael achieved a record-breaking transition from Associate to Partner at the law firm Howard & Howard, where he serves as a Patent Attorney.
Dubem Amene, Class of 2020 Dubem's speed has taken him from the Southfield Christian tracks to the global stage, representing both the University of Michigan and Nigeria. • SCS Legacy: The 2019 MHSAA State Champion in the 400m, Dubem shattered a 30-year-old school record in the 800m with a time of 1:55.95. • Collegiate Stardom: At the University of Michigan, he became a Big Ten Champion and a multi-time All-American, setting the indoor 400m school record at 45.75. • Global Stage: Dubem reached the pinnacle of sport by competing in the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris as a member of Nigeria’s 4x400 relay team. Dubem currently resides in New York City, where he applies his championship mindset to the world of Wall Street finance. Congratulations to our newest Hall of Honor members!
